BIMI Readiness Checker

Check if your domain is ready for Brand Indicators for Message Identification (BIMI) and display your logo in email inboxes.

What is BIMI?

BIMI (Brand Indicators for Message Identification) is an email specification that lets organizations display their brand logo next to authenticated emails in supporting mailbox providers like Gmail, Yahoo Mail, and Apple Mail.

How this check works

This tool queries the DMARC record to verify enforcement level (p=quarantine or p=reject), then looks up the BIMI record at default._bimi.{domain}. If a BIMI record exists, it parses the logo URL (l= tag) and VMC authority URL (a= tag).

Limitations: This check validates DNS record presence and syntax but does not fetch or validate the SVG logo file, verify VMC certificate validity, or confirm that mailbox providers are displaying the logo. Logo rendering depends on provider support (Gmail, Yahoo, Apple Mail) and may require a valid VMC from DigiCert or Entrust.

BIMI Prerequisites

  • DMARC at enforcement — Your domain must have a DMARC record with p=quarantine or p=reject.
  • SPF and/or DKIM — At least one authentication mechanism must pass and align with DMARC.
  • SVG Tiny PS logo — Your logo must be in SVG Tiny Portable/Secure format.
  • VMC (optional but recommended) — A Verified Mark Certificate from a qualified CA (required by Gmail).

How BIMI Works

When an email passes DMARC authentication, the receiving mail server looks up the sender's BIMI record at default._bimi.example.com. If found, it retrieves the logo URL and displays it in the recipient's inbox alongside the email.

Example BIMI Record

v=BIMI1; l=https://example.com/brand/logo.svg; a=https://example.com/brand/vmc.pem

Verified Mark Certificates (VMC)

A VMC is a digital certificate that verifies your organization's ownership of the logo. Gmail requires a VMC for BIMI logo display. VMCs are issued by certificate authorities like DigiCert and Entrust, and require a registered trademark.
